Pastor Support & Church Projects

Nicaragua. ASSIST first began its ministry of supporting indigenous pastors in this needy country back in the early 1990’s. The ministry in Nicaragua has continually grown and we currently support over 27 local pastors. ASSIST also supports the training of pastors through educational seminars and conferences at the local Bible Institute. In addition to personal support for the pastors, ASSIST finances projects through raising funds to build new churches, provide ministry equipment and facility upgrades, as well as meeting the most basic necessities of the community like clean water.

India. In 2007, a partnership began with two national ministries in India. ASSIST supports evangelism and church planting in the Araku Valley. This ministry also includes the Hope of Glory Children’s Home that shelters and feeds 200 orphans as well as the Sunshine Free School that provides education to over 130 poverty stricken children. In northern India, ASSIST partners with indigenous evangelists who travel from village to village by bicycle sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with the Maithili people group. The ministry continues to grow and local believers are being trained in evangelism, new churches are being planted, and God’s Word is being published in the local Maithili language.

Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In 2009 ASSIST planted a church in the city of Bukavu in the DRC. This region has been plagued by ethnic conflicts between local tribal groups. The vision for planting the church was to promote reconciliation in the city of Bukavu and surrounding areas. Additional church plants are being planned for other parts of the DRC.
